Claudia Buchanan
Hi there, and welcome! I’m Claudia Buchanan, a fine artist and textile creator based in Maxwell, California.
My relationship with creativity spans over 50 years of professional sewing, including many wonderful years operating a custom home decor drapery and slipcover business. While retirement brought a slower pace, it also opened the door to a brand-new creative chapter. Four years ago, I picked up a paintbrush, fell completely in love with fine art, and haven’t looked back since.
Today, my studio is a place where a lifetime of fabric mastery meets a fresh, vibrant passion for painting.
One Studio, Two Mediums
I love working across different mediums to create pieces that feel deeply personal, comforting, and unique.
- Meticulous Textile Art: Drawing on my decades of sewing experience, my textile art is an incredibly labor-intensive, tactile process. I cut one individual scrap of fabric at a time, carefully building up layers through detailed shading and free-motion machine stitching to create intricate, textured country florals and landscapes.
- Passionate Watercolors: Watercolor is a true passion of mine. It allows me to capture the fluid, light, and airy beauty of nature. Because I believe everyone should have the opportunity to live with original art, I intentionally focus on keeping my watercolors an affordable option for art lovers of all generations.
Art That Makes You Smile
At the heart of my business is a very simple mission: to enrich your life and bring a smile to your face . I am deeply inspired by traditional rural country art and the quiet beauty of nature. When I create, my goal is to tap into an emotional connection - whether a piece evokes a fond personal memory, reflects an interest close to your heart, or simply brings a sense of calm to a room in your home. I started this business as an avenue to share that joy with others , and nothing makes me happier than knowing my work has brought a bit of "feel-good" energy into your everyday environment.
Let's Create Together
The journey doesn't stop at the edge of the canvas. I am always looking for new ways to share the joy of the creative process with my community.
- Custom Commissions: I would love to work with you one-on-one to bring a specific vision to life, offering custom commission work in both watercolor and textile mediums.
- Creative Classes: I am excitedly preparing to expand my offerings to include interactive workshops, teaching loose, vibrant mediums like Alcohol Ink painting.
Thank you for supporting independent art and being a part of this creative journey.
I invite you to explore the gallery, find a piece that speaks to you, and always remember to relax, laugh, and create.
